Trump Blasts Jerome Powell as 'American Disgrace': Calls Him 'One of the Dumbest and Most Destructive' in Government

President Donald Trump slammed Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell as “truly one of the dumbest, and most destructive, people in Government” in a social media rant Thursday morning.

Calling him “‘Too Late’ Jerome Powell,” Trump focused his ire on the Fed chief in a tirade posted to his Truth Social platform:

“Too Late” Jerome Powell is costing our Country Hundreds of Billions of Dollars. He is truly one of the dumbest, and most destructive, people in Government, and the Fed Board is complicit. Europe has had 10 cuts, we have had none. We should be 2.5 Points lower, and save $BILLIONS on all of Biden’s Short Term Debt. We have LOW inflation! TOO LATE’s an American Disgrace!

During a flagpole photo op on the White House lawn Wednesday, Trump tore into Powell, and floated the idea of firing him and appointing himself as Fed chair.

“Am I allowed to appoint myself at the Fed?” Trump asked while flanked by workers. “I’d do a much better job than these people.”

The social media assault came a day after Powell kept interest rates the same, and warned that Trump’s tariff policy will only lead to increased prices on goods.
