Tottenham The club’s top soccer executive plans to proceed with his intentions. Ange Postecoglou out of the door after the Australian was sacked by the club.

Postecoglou was fired on Friday despite leading Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years with Europa League glory last month.

The Australian manager has been dismissed from his position by chairman Daniel Levy and the board precisely two years after he was appointed.

Even though he ended Tottenham's lengthy title drought and secured their first European trophy since 1984, Postecoglou had a disappointing domestic season.

The north Londoners qualified for the Champions League via European successes but concluded in 17th place, which was their poorest position. Premier League finish in history, and picked up just 38 points.

Spurs announced his departure on Friday, just 16 days after he oversaw their victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final.

And the 59-year-old is not the only Australian to be leaving Spurs after two seasons.

Scott Munn, who serves as the chief football officer, is also scheduled to be dismissed.

In 2023, Munn came over from the Chinese division of the City Football Group, coinciding with the arrival of Postecoglou.

In 2019, he became the Chief Executive Officer of City Football Group in China, after having served for nine years as CEO at Melbourne City FC, an A-League team.

The individual from Australia gained significant experience beyond football, beginning their professional journey at the Sydney Organising Committee for the 2000 Olympics. They later transitioned into roles with the National Rugby League and the Australian Football League.

The individual, who is 51 years old, has remained largely behind-the-scenes, tasked with overhauling and consolidating multiple divisions. This process has led to several job losses and has not earned him much popularity.

The review he headed concluded with the departure of longtime Chief Medical Officer Geoff Scott last year; however, Tottenham’s injury issues intensified even further this season.

Postecoglou was compelled to manage with several key players sidelined due to an extraordinary run of injuries, notably affecting his backline.

The first-choice center-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven missed considerable portions of the season due to injuries, just like Dejan Kulusevski, Destiny Udogie, Dominic Solanke, and James Maddison.

In April, Levy initiated a fresh restructuring of Tottenham's executive level by announcing Vinai Venkatesham as the new CEO, scheduled to begin in the summertime.

Tottenham will now have to look for a substitute for Munn along with finding a new manager.

Thomas Frank is the frontrunner to take over from Postecoglou.

Other alternatives have been sounded out by Tottenham, including Fulham boss Marco Silva, but Frank is emerging as perhaps the strongest contender.
