Fellow forward Dominic Solanke later wrote: 'Thank you for bringing me to this wonderful club, thank you for bringing us a wonderful trophy.

Postecoglou had earlier issued a statement of his own. In it, he spoke of his pride at having delivered European glory to 'one of England's historic football clubs'.


The statement read: 'When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur my overriding emotion is one of pride.
'The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime. Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget.
That evening in Bilbao marked the peak of two years filled with intense effort, commitment, and an unshakable faith in a vision. Numerous obstacles had to be surmounted, along with all the distractions that come from attempting to achieve something deemed impossible by others.
We've also established groundwork that ensures this club shouldn’t have to endure another 17-year drought before achieving future successes. I hold great confidence in these players and recognize there is substantial untapped potential and development ahead for them.
I genuinely wish to express my gratitude to those who form the very essence of the club—the fans. Despite some challenging periods, I sensed their desire for my success, which provided me with all the inspiration required to keep moving forward.
