Super Eagles' Arokodare Scores in 1-1 Draw Against Russia
Russia and Nigeria ended up in a 1-1 tie during their international friendly match on Friday, each team earning equal shares after a contest filled with fervor and determination.
In the 27th minute, Russia surged ahead when Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi accidentally scored an own goal.
In the second half, the Super Eagles made their move with Tolu Arokodare scoring an equalizer in the 71st minute, bringing Nigeria back into the game and leveling the score.
Even though they were dominated in terms of possession, with Russia controlling 58% compared to Nigeria’s 42%, the Super Eagles demonstrated resilience and capitalized on their chances.
In comparison to Nigeria's six attempts at shooting, with four successfully directed towards the goal, Russia had ten shots but only two of them challenged the goalkeeper.
In the match, Russia executed 497 passes with an 87% success rate, whereas Nigeria completed 367 passes at an 81% accuracy level. Additionally, the Europeans were called for 16 fouls and received three yellow cards, compared to Nigeria’s 11 fouls and single caution.
Despite both squads having equal opportunities with four corner kicks each, Nigeria incurred three offsides fouls as opposed to Russia’s one infraction.
