Morocco Shuts Out Tunisia 2-0 in Exciting Friendly Match

The Moroccan national soccer team achieved a tough 2-0 win against Tunisia on Friday evening at the Fès Sports Complex during an intense friendly game.

The goals arrived towards the end of the match, with Achraf Hakimi finding the back of the net at the 80-minute mark and Ayoub El Kaabi clinching victory during added time (90+3 minutes). This North African rivalry fixture, held before a fully packed stadium, was an essential component of each squad’s readiness for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Morocco 2025).

The game signified the formal return of the Fès Sports Complex after recent upgrades in preparation for the upcoming continental championship. This contest served as a significant challenge for the Atlas Lions, showcasing the caliber of opposition they will face at the AFCON.

Tunisia began the match with intensity, controlling possession from the start and attempting to set the pace. Nonetheless, even though they applied early pressure and Morocco seemed rushed at first, they were unable to mount a significant threat against goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

In the game, Morocco was without several important players such as Brahim Diaz, Nayef Aguerd, and Abdessamad Ezzalzouli. To compensate for this, coach Walid Regragai changed his starting formation, positioning Jawad El Yamiq and Adam Masina at the heart of defense, supported by fullbacks Zakaria Boulaamarri and Achraf Hakimi.

The national squad will face Benin in an additional friendly match on June 9, once more at the Fès Sports Complex.
