Liberia's LFA Inks Two-Year Pact with National High School Sports

Monrovia – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) took a significant stride towards fostering amateur soccer growth and tackling age fraud among young players by signing a two-year collaboration pact with National High School Sports (NHSS) on Thursday.

The partnership aims to integrate primary school leagues into Liberia's broader football development framework. Under the agreement, NHSS will organize a nationwide primary school league under the guidance and technical support of the LFA.

At the signing ceremony, NHSS Executive Director Dionysius Sebwe affirmed his organization's dedication to promoting youth soccer in Liberia.

I am thrilled to work alongside the LFA in establishing a structure that fosters the growth of youth soccer in Liberia," stated Sebwe, who previously played as a defender for Lone Star. "This collaboration is anticipated to significantly influence upcoming athletes, particularly those engaged in LFA-approved competitions.

Sebwe highlighted that this initiative aims to address the persistent problem of age fraud, which has resulted in Liberia being disqualified from various regional and international youth competitions previously.

"This unprecedented collaboration with the LFA will restore credibility in our youth teams' selection process and provide tools to effectively track players' ages," he said. "NHSS, which uses sports as a platform to promote school enrollment, is ready to support football development in schools across Liberia."

Sebwe, who previously served as the deputy minister at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, vowed to collaborate closely with the LFA Executive Committee. He expressed his gratitude towards LFA President Mustapha Raji and Executive Committee member Ivan Brown for helping to finalize the agreement.

LFA Deputy Secretary-General Muhammed Sheriff signed the agreement on behalf of the association and said the NHSS initiative aligns closely with the LFA's broader youth development agenda.

"This agreement, set for potential renewal, marks a crucial advancement in boosting football development across all tiers," Sheriff stated.

He emphasized President Raji's dedication to working alongside all football participants — especially past national athletes — with the aim of fostering sustainable development of the game throughout the nation.
