Gloves Up: Lagos and Abuja Boxers Clash at KORBOXINGNG Tryouts in July

KORBOXINGNG, a Nigerian sports promotion company, has been diligently efforts to boost boxing events via exhibitions and professional matches in both Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, and Lagos, the country’s economic and entertainment center, aiming to bring thrilling boxing contests to fans of the sport.
The platform was established by 24-year-old Nigerian entrepreneur and boxing promoter, Mr. Onovwakpor Jude Vikosin known as Babyboy-Jood. His aim was to identify, develop, and promote the skills of budding boxers. Recently, he received recognition and an award from FightGistMedia during the event held at the National Sports Institute in Lagos, acknowledging his efforts towards promoting and publicizing boxing in Nigeria.
The first-ever Professional Boxing Championship organized by KORBOXINGNG took place on October 21, 2023, at the well-known Hustle&Bustle Event Arena in Abuja. Notable figures from Nigeria’s sporting scene who attended included Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, President of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, Oluremi Aboderin, Secretary-General of the same board, along with all members of the board.

Via his organization KORBOXINGNG, Babyboy-Jood seeks to expand boxing’s reach outside of Africa. Continuing their mission to identify, develop, and showcase talent, KORBOXINGNG is organizing a single-day boxing event called 'KORBOXINGNG TRYOUTS' in both Abuja and Lagos. This initiative aims to choose amateur and professional boxers for an upcoming fighting competition. Participants will be evaluated across various weight classes. The tryouts are scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Abuja and Monday, July 5, 2025, in Lagos.
