2 charged in Lamar County after break-in at Lumberton mechanic’s garage

LUMBERTON, Miss. (WDAM) - Two people were recently arrested and charged with commercial burglary after a break-in at a mechanic’s garage in Lumberton.

According to the Lamar County Jail roster, James Patrick Young, 36, was being held on $5,500 bond after being charged with commercial burglary ($5,000) and felony malicious mischief. ($500).

His hometown was not given.

The Lumberton Police Department’s Facebook page said that Ashley T’Chevette Williams also had been charged with commercial burglary and that bond had been set at $5,000 on the charge.

Williams was no longer in the on-line Lamar County Jail system early Wednesday evening, so her age and hometown are unknown. It also was not clear whether she faced a malicious mischief charge like Young.

LPD Chief Elsie Cowart said on Facebook that the investigation remains ongoing, and law enforcement officers were continuing to gather evidence related to the case.
