What a way to make a livin’: Phillies 9, Rockies 5

The train rolled on as the Philadelphia Phillies (31-18) continued their demolition of the Colorado Rockies (8-41) with a 9-5 win on Wednesday night.
Taijuan Walker picked up the win in his return to the rotation, going 5.0 IP with 3 ER.
The Rockies’ lefthanded martyr, Carson Palmquist, took the L in his second career start, coughing up seven runs in 4.1 innings of work.
A night after putting up 17 hits, the Phillies got another 12 to go along with five walks against the host staff.
Trea Turner and Bryce Harper opened the game with a pair of singles and came home to score on a throwing error by Rockies’ catcher, Hunter Goodman, and a sacrifice fly by Nick Castellanos.
The pair matched each other again to open the third inning with Turner and Harper going back to back with solo shots.
A Kyle Schwarber walk and a Castellanos single put ducks on the pond for JT Realmuto, who brought them both home with a double.
Three more singles by Castellanos, Realmuto and Alec Bohm scored the Phillies’ seventh run in the fifth inning.
The Rockies were clearly making a point not to pitch to Schwarber, who homered in the first two games of the series, as he again walked on four pitches in the sixth. Realmuto made it count by sending a 2-2 changeup by reliever, Angel Chivilli, over the left field fence. Realmuto finished 3-5 and a triple short of his second career cycle.
Tanner Banks and Joe Ross combined for three shutout relief innings, Ross going two in the seventh and eighth.
Carlos Hernandez did allow a couple garbage time runs in the bottom of the ninth off of three hits and a walk but still shut the door.
The Phillies will look to close out the series and season sweep against the Rockies tomorrow afternoon as Ranger Suarez goes up against German Marquez.
