What CPA's Owen Cabell said about college football recruitment

MURFREESBORO − One day, one school will have made Owen Cabell an offer he can't refuse.
Which school, though, remains to be seen for the Christ Presbyterian Academy junior wide receiver, who said he will make his first official visit within the next couple of weeks to Vanderbilt .
According to 247sports.com , the 6-foot-3, 201-pounder has 18 other offers, with Arkansas, Duke , Georgia , Illinois , Indiana, Tennessee and Wisconsin among them.

Other visits he has on his calendar include Wisconsin on June 6, Indiana on June 12 and Duke on June 21. He said he'll also likely check out Illinois.
Oh, but there's more.
"I got a little thing going with 'Bama right now," Cabell said May 21, during the TSSAA state track and field meet at MTSU. "So we're going to see how that pans out."
Owen Cabell wants to make college decision by July
Cabell, who finished third in the Division II-AA 100-meter dash in 10.93 seconds and sixth in the 200 in 22.559 seconds, said he wants to have a decision by July, before his senior season begins.
"I'm kind of just taking it all in right now," said Cabell, who was born in Gainesville, Florida. "I've always wanted to play college football."
Cabell said he's consulted some of his former teammates during the recruiting process, and added that his parents have been very involved in the process.
He also said distance from home won't be much of a factor in his decision − "It's more about the program," he said − though he did praise Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea and his staff.
"I'm super familiar with the Vanderbilt staff," Cabell said. "They were like my second offer. Coach Lea is fantastic. I love their staff."
Owen Cabell not worried about playing time
Cabell, ranked a three-star prospect by 247sports.com , helped lead CPA to back-to-back Division II-AA state championship in 2023, when the team was 13-1, and 2024, when the team finished 14-0.
He's also the No. 28 recruit in the state per the 247Sports Composite.
Cabell had 43 receptions for 973 yards and 13 touchdowns last season, when he earned All-State honors.
With one more season of high school football ahead of him, Cabell said he doesn't want to get ahead of himself.
"I'm not too worried about (college) playing time, because I know I'm going to put everything into it that I can," he said.
