'Survivor' season 48 finale preview
Survivor finalists
From 18 to five.
After Shauhin Davari was voted out last week, there are just five contestants remaining. Survivor fans in Milwaukee know Davari well after he was a special guest at a Survivor watch party put on by "Survivor" fan favorite and Milwaukee native Andrea Boehlke two weeks ago at the Wicked Hop in The Third Ward.
Eva Erickson, Joe Hunter, Kyle Fraser, Kamilla Karthigesu and Mitch Guerra are the last contestants left.
The season finale will include two immunity challenges, one fire-making challenge to determine the final three and a Final Tribal Council.
The final three will plead their case to the eight-person jury on why they should win the $1 million prize and earn the title of Sole Survivor.
Who wins Survivor 48?
Survivor fans will find out at the end of the Final Tribal Council during the season finale.
Heading into the season finale, it's between Eva Erickson, Joe Hunter, Kyle Fraser, Kamilla Karthigesu and Mitch Guerra.
Just like every season since season 41, the winner will be announced at the Final Tribal Council in Fiji. Season 48 was filmed last summer.
For years, after the jury made their picks, the winner wasn't revealed until during a live reunion show in Los Angeles months later.
Survivor 48 predictions
It's been a season of duos. Two of the strongest are left in the game, along with Guerra, who has been wanting to make a move but has been mostly on the outside of things in the post-merge part of the game.
Hunter, a firefighter from California, has been a force with four immunity wins and, until last week, had a firm grasp of the alliance. He bonded with Erickson in the premiere after she opened up to him about having autism in one of the most noteworthy moments in the game's history. Erickson has collected several advantages in the game and still has her hidden immunity idol. Loyalty has been her theme.
While their alliance is out in the open, Fraser and Karthigesu have been secretly pulling the strings. They formed an instant bond on the same tribe at the beginning of the game and stayed close without their fellow players catching on about the strength of their connection.
Fraser, though, is a potential favorite to win. He was the catalyst in several blindsides, from helping turn the tables on Thomas Krottinger in the pre-merge, to leading the effort to get David Kinne out when the stunt performer began suspecting Fraser's bond with Karthigesu and then coming up with a lie to get Hunter and Erickson to vote out their fellow alliance member, Shauhin, last week.
Karthigesu looked strong early on but Fraser's strategic gameplay, along with his emotional dilemmas, have been much of the focus as the weeks have gone on. The 31-year-old attorney from Brooklyn, New York, who told his fellow Survivors that he was a teacher, will successfully tell his winning story to the jury. All of that puts Fraser in prime position to win the $1 million prize.
