Shedeur Sanders' True Character On Display With NFL Contract Decision

Shedeur Sanders is officially an NFL player.

The Cleveland Browns announced on Tuesday, May 20 that the fifth round NFL Draft pick had officially signed his contract. Sanders, who starred collegiately at Colorado and Jackson State, slid in the 2025 NFL Draft, though he's an NFL player after all.

"The Cleveland Browns have signed QB Shedeur Sanders. The team has signed four of their seven picks from the 2025 NFL Draft," the Browns announced.

Sanders' contract is for four years and a little more than $4 million. That's certainly good money, but after taxes, agent fees and more, Sanders will be lucky to take home $500,000 a year.

Luckily for him, he appears to have a good head on his shoulders. Sanders has already made a decision on what his first NFL contract purchase will be.

Sanders announced that instead of buying a big house, or a new car, or some fancy jewelry, the quarterback will instead be saving his money, choosing to invest it.

"I’m not tryna buy anything," Sanders told reporters . "My signing bonus ain’t that high right now."

It's easy to see that Sanders has a good head on his shoulders with a comment like that. Even $500,000 is a ton of money, but Sanders isn't going to be spending it. Instead, he'll be investing it.

Sanders has one main goal, anyway: making an NFL roster.

"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity," Sanders said. "I don't ever focus on the negative or even think about the negative. I've just got to prove and show what I'm capable of. What fuels me is my purpose in life and understanding the route that we're going to have to take. Understanding that I was able to get an opportunity when a lot of people didn't want to give me an opportunity. So that's what I'm truly thankful for."

Good for Shedeur Sanders.

You can say what you want about Deion Sanders, but clearly, he did a good job raising his son, who's now an NFL quarterback.
