North Fire: Emergency crews respond to grass fire in Placer County

Firefighters responded to smoke near Interstate 80 in Placer County on Wednesday afternoon.

Cal Fire said its firefighters are assisting the Tahoe National Forest on the fire off North Fork Place in Placer County. Crews located it by the river off Laing Road and Sailor Point Road.

The fire appears to be from an escaped debris burn pile, Cal Fire said.

The fire is burning in a steep, rugged terrain and is tough to get to, officials said.
