Motorcycle Rider Killed in Collision at Riverside Intersection
A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday when he collided with a pickup truck at a Riverside intersection, where the driver turned in front of him.
Randy Rodriguez Orozco of Perris was fatally injured just before 5 a.m. at Indiana Avenue and Fensmuir Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Sgt. Tim Jensen said Orozco was going westbound on Indiana Avenue at an unconfirmed speed when the driver of a Toyota pickup began a left turn onto Indiana Avenue from southbound Fensmuir Street. The woman apparently did not see the motorcyclist approaching and entered the victim’s path.
The motorcyclist slammed into the front of the pickup and was ejected onto the roadway, suffering grave injuries, Jensen said.
The pickup driver, whose name was not disclosed, immediately stopped.
Orozco was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died less than an hour later.
Neither the Toyota driver nor her passenger was injured, Jensen said. Officers questioned the driver, but did not arrest her.
The investigation was continuing, and anyone with information was encouraged to call the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team at 951-826-8723.
