Fugitives On The Run: Pair Flees on Foot After Stolen Vehicle Crash in Monkton, Police Report

The Vermont State Police are presently looking into a collision that occurred on Saturday in Monkton, which involved a vehicle that had been reported as stolen. Both people inside the car ran away from the scene on foot.

The accident occurred on Saturday morning around 10:20 a.m. Police reports indicate that a car moving on Hardscrabble Road was abruptly hit by another car making a turn from Putty Bed Place. It appears that the latter vehicle was speeding excessively, resulting in significant damage to both cars when they collided.

The investigation found that the reckless vehicle—a 2023 Audi Q5—was recently taken during a theft in Burlington. Authorities mention that both individuals inside abandoned the car and ran away on foot. Although a canine unit failed to locate them, law enforcement reports from eyewitnesses indicate that these persons were later retrieved via an older white Chevrolet pickup truck.
